Job Description:

  • Monitor and optimize key process indices including gate oxide integrity
  • Characterize and optimize furnace preclean operations
  • Establish and document equipment and process operating specifications
  • Develop OCAPS for all processes
  • Design, coordinate, and perform experiments to develop new processes and improve manufacturing techniques
  • Lead team activities to solve process and device problems
  • Lead team activities to reduce variation in all critical processes
  • Provide training and technical direction to support personnel
  • Analyze, summarize, and integrate project results with other project members
  • Apply planning and problem-solving tools such as PFMEA, fault tree analysis, and event tree analysis in team settings
  • Provide disposition to affected processes, tools, and lots when necessary
  • Communicate regularly with management and other functional groups within Microchip to ensure understanding of needs/problems in relation to the process engineering function. Prepare and present reports to management
  • Interact with other technical groups throughout Microchip and elsewhere to exchange technical information and remain abreast of new developments in the field
  • Planning and execution of technical projects
  • Analyze, prepare, and present equipment purchase recommendations

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Skills

  • Detailed knowledge of thermal oxidation processes on Si and SiC
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze scientific and technical journals and technical procedures
  • Write correspondence, speeches, and articles for publication
  • Effectively present information to management, public groups and employees
  • Skills necessary and/or history of writing technical papers for advanced technical journals such as IEEE, ECS, JAP and others
  • Should be able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, calculus, matrices, solid state, and device physics
  • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and analysis to practical situations
  • Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and principles of algebra
  • Apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally with all levels of an organization and lead problem solving/quality improvement activities
  • Define problems/issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Deal with several abstract and concrete variables and with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases.
  • General knowledge of engineering practices to sustain, troubleshoot, modify, improve, and develop integrated circuit manufacturing processes. This knowledge covers a variety of topics such as mathematics, chemistry, mechanics, materials, electrical, physics, probability, and statistics

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Mathematica, LabVIEW, or JMP
  • Basic understanding of TCAD simulation
  • Familiarity of surface analysis techniques including AES, SIMS, XPS, and EELS
  • Skilled in project management
  • Basic understanding of Semiconductor parametric measurements

Education and Experience:

PhD in physics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, or engineering physics preferred, or similar degree focus (preferred)

or

BS degree in physics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, or engineering physics preferred, or a similar degree focus, and at least 4 years of related experience

MS degree in physics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, or engineering physics preferred, or a similar degree focus and at least 2 years of related experience

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70-105k.*

  • Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
