Case Manager/Financial Specialist

Location: 1500 Market Street; some travel required throughout Philadelphia
Job overview:
The Case Manager/Financial Specialist (CMFS) is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of financial stability and economic mobility services for participants in the Focus on Fathers (FOF) parenting education program and related fatherhood initiatives. The CMFS provides direct case management with an emphasis on financial empowerment, employment support, and resource navigation.
The CMFS will maintain regular contact with participants, conduct financial and employment assessments, facilitate workshops (including financial literacy and employment readiness), set and track participant goals, and cultivate partnerships with local employers, financial institutions, and community agencies.
This position requires strong leadership, project management, and financial coaching skills, along with a deep understanding of barriers facing fathers in low-income communities.
Responsibilities:
- Carry a caseload of participating fathers, with an emphasis on financial stability, employment, and family self-sufficiency.
- Conduct comprehensive intake, financial, and employment assessments to identify participant strengths, needs, and barriers.
- Develop individualized service plans with participants, including financial, employment, and educational goals.
- Facilitate financial literacy workshops, credit-building sessions, budgeting groups, and employment readiness trainings.
- Provide guidance, coordination, and support to peers (including Case Managers) in relation to financial stability activities and resources to ensure cohesive service delivery.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local financial institutions, employers, workforce agencies, and community organizations.
- Provide referrals and linkages to job training, education, benefits screening, tax preparation, legal services, and supportive resources.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality to ensure trust among program participants and the Health Promotion Council.
- Maintain data compliance in the program's nFORM database; document participant progress, outcomes, and services provided.
- Work with staff and partner organizations to market the program and recruit participants seeking financial and employment support.
- Prepare and submit program reports and other written documentation as required.
- Stay current with industry trends relevant to financial empowerment, workforce development, public benefits, and supports for fathers, including criminal justice involvement and trauma-informed care.
- Participate in regular supervision sessions, team meetings, and staff meetings.
- Meet participants in a variety of settings, including participant homes, community sites, online, and parenting or financial classes.
- Participate in conferences, trainings, and professional development related to financial capability and workforce development.
- Work as part of the Focus on Fathers team and contribute to a peer-to-peer learning environment.
- Facilitate parenting education classes as needed, using the national fatherhood initiative's 24/7 Dad curriculum.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financial empowerment, financial coaching, and workforce development strategies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; flexibility, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines required.
- Leadership and supervisory skills for guiding other case managers and staff.
- Comfortable working with adults in low-income communities and individuals facing multiple barriers to financial security and employment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
- Knowledge of issues related to fatherhood, child development, family life skills, healthy relationships, and healthy parenting.
- Proficiency with email, MS Office applications, and web-based data systems.
- Experience coordinating community events or financial workshops with multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of social service agencies, workforce resources, and financial programs in Philadelphia.
- Knowledge of public health theories, principles, and practices.
Experience:
- Two years of experience providing direct services in financial coaching, workforce development, or case management with individuals facing financial and employment barriers is required.
- Two years of experience working with men and families, including those affected by substance abuse, mental health, criminal justice, and related issues.
- Two years of experience facilitating group workshops or training sessions for adults.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including some weekend/evening hours as requested.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and web-based data collection applications.
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, finance, workforce development, human services, psychology, or a related field, OR 5 years of relevant experience required.
