JOB DESCRIPTION: Seasonal (Summer) Cooking School Kitchen Assistant - Weekday Evenings
This is a full-time SEASONAL position. Training will begin in late-May/early-June on a part-time basis, transitioning to full-time from June 16th to August 22nd. Candidates must be available to work throughout this period, with no planned vacations. This position will end August 22nd. There is a possibility (but not guarantee) for continued part-time work after the Seasonal position has ended.
Job Description
The Seasonal Weekday Kitchen Assistant plays a key support role for the Chef/Instructor and guests during Kids and Teen Camps and evening classes/private events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing all ingredients and setting up the kitchen with the necessary equipment for the class.
- Reporting to the Chef during class and assist them by anticipating the needs of them and the students.
- Warmly welcome and receive students and assisting them in preparing for their cooking or baking experience.
- Clean and sanitize the kitchen area in coordination with Chef and Dishwasher, as needed, to prepare for the next phase of the event, including removing all dirty materials including but not limited to: dishes, glassware, tableware pots, pans and other cooking utensils during classes and events.
- Maintain cleaning and safety standards as directed.
- Help with storage organization and other projects when needed.
- Other duties as directed.
- Previous kitchen assisting experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods and frequently lift/move objects from 10-35 lbs.
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment, food preparation, and produce basics.
- Skills & Attributes:
- High energy and ability to move efficiently.
- Positive attitude and customer-service mindset.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and good time management.
- Training will include 4-6 shadow shifts scheduled before the full-time start date and will be based on candidates availability in late May/Early June. As of June 16th, schedule will be 2pm-10:30pm Mon-Fri.
Compensation: $ $22.00 per hour
