$73.54/hr to $86.01/hr on W2 (All Inclusive)

Position Overview

The Structural Engineer will serve as the
Substation Structural Engineering Lead
, managing and executing multiple projects simultaneously across the Southern California Edison (SCE) network.

This role involves overseeing the
assessment, design, and development
of substation capital projects that have both financial and operational impact.

The engineer will lead the
civil and structural design, analysis, and CAD-supported drafting
for SCE substation facilities, ensuring all projects meet applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements while mentoring junior engineers and supporting project execution from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple substation structural engineering projects, balancing large-scale and smaller, complex initiatives.

• Perform engineering analysis, design calculations, detailing, and drawing development for substation structures and facilities.

• Oversee structural engineering deliverables such as foundation design, member sizing, building assessments, and evaluation of existing and new facilities.

• Review, approve, and stamp engineering drawings and calculations.

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training sessions to enhance team capabilities.

• Define engineering requirements, project schedules, and deliverables, and provide technical recommendations and reports to project and construction management teams.

• Conduct site visits for construction support, inspections, and field data collection.

• Oversee design contractors to ensure compliance with schedule, budget, and technical requirements.

• Collaborate with internal and external partners — including clients, construction teams, operations, peer disciplines, permitting authorities, and management — to achieve project objectives.

• Travel as needed throughout SCE's service territory to perform engineering services and site evaluations.

• Ensure protection of physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and safeguard confidential or sensitive data in accordance with company standards.

• Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in
Civil or Structural Engineering
.

• Active
Professional Engineer (PE) License
in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Valid
Class C Driver's License
.

Desired Qualifications

• Minimum of
5 years of technical design experience
with
electrical substation projects
.

• Strong working knowledge of Civil/Structural Engineering codes and standards, including:

ASCE 7, ACI 318, CBC, AISC 360, NDS, IEEE 693, ASCE 113, and related standards.

• At least
3 years of experience
with computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD or equivalent).

• Proficiency in
Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
.

•
Structural Engineer (SE) License
from the State of California preferred.

• Minimum
5 years of experience
in structural consulting engineering.
