Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Reporting: Maintenance Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Basic Company Requirements
- Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures
- Read and understand written procedures (in English) for maintenance on equipment
- Follow written and verbal instructions from supervision, management, and engineering
- Complete basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
- Know and comply with all attendance policies and procedures
B. Safety and Environmental Requirements
- Don Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly and effectively
- Read and understand a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to identify hazards of handling chemicals
- Safely work around solvents (such as methanol), acids (such as nitric acid), and bases (such as 50% sodium hydroxide) or other hazardous or potentially hazardous chemicals
- Understand and adhere to company emergency procedures
- Complete monthly and annual safety training on time (in person and computer-based)
- Report all spills, leaks, injuries, mischarges, and other incidents immediately to the Supervisor and/or management
- Report all unsafe conditions immediately to the Supervisor and/or management
- Understand policies and procedures for line breaks, hot work, Lock Out/Tag Out, and confined space
- Protect the environment to prevent ground, water, and air pollution
C. Maintenance Work Requirements
- Observing all Company policies and procedure, rules and regulations and perform all duties assigned by management in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner
- Possessing a thorough knowledge of safety, equipment operating, and maintenance procedures
- Performing all duties set forth and assigned in the "Work Instructions" contained within the Company's Quality Management System
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on process equipment, including reactors, vessels, storage tanks, pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, lift trucks, and plant utility systems.
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled to minimize downtime.
- Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
- Document all maintenance activities, work completions, and parts usage.
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and ensuring adequate stock levels of commonly used items.
- Support plant safety by immediately reporting any equipment issues, hazards, or required corrective actions.
- Participate in plant housekeeping, including spill cleanup and proper waste disposal.
- Provide timely updates to supervisors regarding repair progress and completion.
- Respond to "on-call" maintenance needs outside of normal working hours as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by plant management.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:
Required:
- High School Diploma and/or GED
- Minimum of 3 years' experience maintaining plant or industrial equipment (mechanical focus).
- Working knowledge of process equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, tanks, and utility systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with interest in learning electrical maintenance (training provided).
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and safely maneuver heavy equipment (up to 600 lbs) with assistance/tools.
- Comfortable wearing required PPE, including full-face respirators.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- Availability for on-call maintenance work as needed.
