Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service at the front desk
- Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software and coordinate patient flow efficiently
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to ensure accurate billing
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and professionalism
- Handle multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries, and direct calls appropriately
- Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation review and filing of medical records
- Assist with medical billing, collections, and coding tasks such as CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Utilize EMR systems (eClinicalWorks) for data entry and documentation review
- Support office management tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and maintaining clinic supplies
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and HIPAA privacy rules
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office role with clinic or dental experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with office management software like Medisoft or Dentrix
- Ability to handle phone etiquette professionally in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
- Prior experience with insurance verification and patient intake processes highly desirable
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing processes
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Office experience in healthcare settings such as hospitals or clinics is preferred but not required
