What You Will Achieve:
Under the supervision of the MSAT Manager the MSAT Associate I/ II will assist in supporting Manufacturing Science and Technology across the company. The candidate will be focused on supporting continuous improvement and enhancing manufacturing efficiency and cost-effectiveness through robust technology transfer, validation, and lifecycle management. The candidate must apply scientific and engineering principles to design, optimize, and scale manufacturing processes, technology transfer, and resolve challenges across the product lifecycle. This position is on-site at our Birmingham, Alabama lab.
How You Will Achieve It:
- The candidate must show initiative, strong communication skills, relevant scientific knowledge/experience, and be a team player.
- Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, PM, and external partners to support business continuity and solve complex technical problems
- Work within the team to identify improvement opportunities and pilot/propose strategies to boost efficiency and reduce costs
- Support the transfer, scale-up, and validation of manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Support the development of manufacturing and design control documentation
- Performs a range of assigned experiments with efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Design and execute experiments to investigate hypotheses, make observations, and interpret findings with minimal supervision (e.g., troubleshoots routine experiments, and develops some non-routine procedures).
- Makes observations, documents experimental data, and records all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
- Performs calculations, statistics, and complex analysis on experimental results.
- Initiates routine problem investigation and recommends solutions.
- Attends and actively participates in group and project meetings.
- Orders laboratory materials and reagents.
- Assists with routine lab equipment maintenance.
- Receives, stores, aliquots and keeps inventory of important laboratory reagents.
- Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures.
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Applies company policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
What You Need to Achieve It:
- For MSAT Associate I, a 4-year Degree in biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a relevant field is required
- For consideration as MSAT Associate II, a M.S. or 2+ years of relevant work experience is required
- Laboratory experience in a related environment preferred
- Knowledge of a variety of standard laboratory procedures and techniques; of laboratory equipment and terminology; and of laboratory hazards and safety practices
- Experience with Cell Culture, PCR, ELISA assays, and other relevant laboratory procedures
- Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards etc.)
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.)
- Ability to work in an organized and an autonomous fashion
Physical Demands
Standing for extended periods of time.
Bending over for extended periods of time.
Sometimes having repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Occasional lifting of objects up to 40 lbs.
Environmental Conditions
Frequently in a lab setting.
Frequently around biohazardous materials.
Frequently using scientific equipment like microscopes, centrifuges, hoods, etc.
Occasionally in cold temperatures.
Occasionally around loud noises.
Occasional travel may be required to one of our other facilities 5-10%

The anticipated annualized base salary for this role is $63,000 - $85,000 and reflects current market data for similarly-sized life science companies and internal equity. Organogenesis is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based increases, eligibility for our 401(k) plan with competitive company match, medical, dental, vision, education assistance, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state and federal law. Our time-off policy includes paid vacation days, paid company holidays, and paid sick time. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education, and other factors permitted by law.
