Server/Waiter

Overview

As a SERVER at Tokyo you are expected to take orders from guests who (dine in), and deliver their food. You are expected to make sure the guest has what they need to have a delightful japanese inspired dining experience. You are in charge and responsible for keeping your station clean, keeping the dining area presentable, stocking salads, soups, sauces that you need. Following this outline will ensure a good interaction and desired experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and provide them with menus.
• Take food and drink orders accurately using the POS system.
• Serve food and beverages promptly while ensuring quality standards are met.
• Sanitate tables and service areas to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
• Handle card payments, only manager/register handles cash
• Assist guests with any inquiries or special requests to enhance their experience.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and communication regarding orders.
• Monitor guest satisfaction throughout their visit and address any issues promptly.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods, to provide informed recommendations.
• Prepping side dishes (soup, salad, and sauces)
• Sweeping, cleaning, and maintaining the front of house area (which includes the bathrooms)
• Standing for up to 5 hours at a time (can take a break sitting down)
• Speaking the required Japanese phrases of welcome in, thank you, enjoy

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service or hospitality is preferred but not required.
• Basic math skills for accurate transaction processing.
• Experience with restaurant POS systems
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with guests and team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required by the restaurant details
• Required to speak 3 phrases in Japanese (Welcome in, enjoy the food, and thank you) to ensure an authentic dining experience

Pay: $6.00 - $12.00 per year
