  • Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Engineer 2 (Distribution) to fill a three- year assignment in the Pell City, AL area.

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Job Title: Engineer 2 (Distribution)

Work Location: Pell City, AL (with the possibility of temporary assignments in adjacent operations)

Requirements
Required PPE: Individual would be required to wear EH rated steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses, traffic vest, rubber gloves, and FR clothing. The job requires opening padmounted transformers and field engineering which will require all of the above-mentioned PPE. The job also requires working in the field with crews from time to time where the individual could be exposed to energized parts or equipment requiring PPE. The traffic vest will be required when the individual is working along a public highway
.

A Distribution Engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience is expected to have a strong foundation in distribution system design and project management. They should be capable of handling complex projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing distribution networks to meet the needs of their respective industries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in distribution system design and management
  • Proficiency in distribution system design software and tools
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to distribution systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address technical challenges
  • Project management experience, including project planning, budgeting, and execution
  • Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and clients
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety
  • Adaptability to changing technology and industry trends

System Design

  • Design and plan distribution systems, which may include electrical power lines, water pipelines, natural gas distribution networks, or telecommunication cables

Network Optimization

  • Optimize the distribution network for efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness

Project Management

  • Manage distribution projects, from planning and design to implementation and maintenance, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget

Compliance And Regulation

  • Ensure that distribution systems comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and environmental requirements

Technical Analysis

  • Perform technical analysis, such as load flow analysis, fault analysis, and voltage drop calculations to ensure the proper functioning of the distribution system

Upgrades And Maintenance

  • Identify opportunities for system upgrades or replacements and plan maintenance activities to prevent disruptions

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of distribution system designs and implementation to guarantee high-quality standards

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records, drawings, and documentation related to distribution systems

Safety

  • Promote and enforce safety protocols for both employees and the general public to minimize accidents and hazards

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, field technicians, and project managers, to achieve project goals

Customer Support

  • Provide technical support and address customer inquiries related to distribution systems
