Systems Engineer (Full Time, Contract-to-Hire;5x Onsite in Johns Creek, Georgia)

Optomi, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer. In this role, you'll support and enhance enterprise data-center operations through hands-on work with VMware vSphere, Windows Server, and core Active Directory services such as GPO, DNS/DHCP, ADFS, NPS, and Azure AD Connect. You'll manage Microsoft 365 tools, oversee system patching through Tanium, and support enterprise storage and backup platforms including PowerStore, Data Domain, Veeam, Zerto, and Dell PPDM. You'll collaborate closely with a growing engineering team focused on modernization, reliability, and expanding the organization's cloud capabilities within a culture that values teamwork, adaptability, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support VMware vSphere environments, ensuring stable, high-performing virtualized infrastructure
  • Manage Windows Server and Active Directory services, including GPO, DNS/DHCP, ADFS, NPS, and Azure AD Connect
  • Support Microsoft 365 technologies such as Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Handle systems management and patching using Tanium while monitoring performance, configuration, and capacity
  • Support enterprise storage and backup platforms, including PowerStore, Data Domain, Veeam, Zerto, and PPDM
  • Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, and ongoing data center operations, including onsite support in Suwanee

  • Hands-on VMware vSphere administration — provisioning, performance tuning, troubleshooting in an enterprise environment
  • Strong Windows Server & Active Directory experience — GPO, DNS/DHCP, ADFS, Azure AD Connect, MFA
  • Enterprise storage experience, ideally Dell PowerStore, but exposure to NetApp, HPE Nimble, or Dell-EMC also relevant
  • Backup technologies such as Data Domain, Veeam, Zerto, or Dell PPDM, including restores and recovery workflows
  • Large-scale infrastructure support within a data center environment (server, storage, virtualization, performance, capacity)
  • Working knowledge of Azure & Azure AD, with a desire to continue cross-training into cloud and networking
