Salary Range: $35,984 to $62,971
The primary purpose of the Workers' Compensation HR Technician II position is to assist in administering the Workers' Compensation Program for the Department of Adult Correction (DAC), providing the highest-level guidance for the program which includes interpretation of associated laws, rules, and policies.

- Experience administering a high-volume, complex Workers' Compensation program
- Demonstrated experience working with a third-party administrator to evaluate, manage, and close claims
- Experience providing guidance to supervisors regarding the interpretation of federal and/or state laws
- Experience ensuring that other employees comply with laws, policies, or established procedures.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Receive, approve, and submit Worker's Compensation Claims to the Third-Party Administrator (TPA), as well as serve as a liaison to TPA claims adjusters
- Communicate with management, supervisors, employees, the TPA, and Legal Counsel, including interpreting and directing the application of policies,
- general statutes, court rulings, and other Worker's Compensation and Salary Continuation issues
- Conduct and/or assist in training and resolve processing problems
- Review various documents (such as Essential Job Functions, medical information, time reporting and personnel actions in the Integrated HR-Payroll System)
- Prepare approval/denial letters for Injury Leave and distribute to work locations
- Initiate and prepare Leave without Pay letters for facilities and the TPA
- Initiate and prepare salary continuation Eligibility letters for employees and the TPA
- Prepare wage request for the TPA
- Respond quickly to field staff, especially in matters of policy interpretation, which requires independent decision making
- Other related duties may be assigned on an as-needed basis
This position is eligible for a
flexible/hybrid
telework schedule under the State of NC Telework Program.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Minimum Education And Experience

Associate's degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required (OR) 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources (OR) an equivalent combination or education and experience.
