Job Summary

The Building Materials Plant Manager will manage a warehousing and delivery operation, supplying concrete and masonry related building materials to customer job sites. He/she will be responsible for safety, site operations, managing inventory, order taking and dispatch, and customer service. He/she will manage all aspects of operations and safety for the assigned site, including the supervision of drivers, dispatchers, and yard personnel. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Must have the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in supervising the hourly workforce. These tasks include: hiring, directing, training, counseling, and disciplining to include suspending employees from work or discharge for serious rule infractions or poor job performance as necessary.
  • Conduct hourly employee performance reviews.
  • Maintain plant housekeeping, environmental, and safety policy to comply with Company, State, and Local governing rules
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of a warehouse and delivery operation. Including forklift certification.
  • Control and minimize plant costs while providing a consistent quality product and delivery performance.
  • Capable of managing building material inventories and the ability to order and maintain inventory levels sufficient for the success of the ongoing warehouse and delivery operation.
  • Regularly visit customer jobsites to ensure safe and efficient delivery access.
  • Must provide great customer service.
Qualifications
  • Must be forklift certified
  • Must be proficient in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office applications
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills
  • Must be comfortable communicating with customers on a regular basis
  • High school degree or equivalent/some technical, vocational or education preferred
  • 3 years' experience performing varied responsibilities related to building materials or warehousing operations

     
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations 
  • Must be willing to relocate domestically

     
Working Conditions
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location

     
Physical Requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Heavy Work-Exerting up to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or up to 50 pounds or force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment  
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
