Job Description:

Performs the basic activities and related professional services necessary in the care and handling of surgical instruments

Qualifications:

Education High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience None necessary, completion of formal training in field preferred Technical Skills Due to the highly technical nature, especially related to interpretation of manufacturer's Instructions For Use (IFU), ALL SPD staff must be proficient in spoken and written English.

This is a 12-month time limited position. SPD intern will be trained and educated on the job to care for and reprocess reusable medical equipment and surgical instrumentation. The intern will successfully pass all hospital competencies for department. Certification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formerly known as the International Association of Healthcare Central Sterile Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) is required by the end of 12 months.
