Senior Certified Medical Assistant - Pediatrics

Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center (VNACJ CHC) offers comprehensive, community based, preventive, primary care and wellness services for New Jersey residents of all ages at four convenient locations. CHC health care services are designed to meet the specific needs of the entire family – from annual check-ups and immunizations to sick visits, mental health counseling and critical prenatal care.

Position Summary:

The Senior Certified Medical Assistant – Pediatrics (SCMA Pediatrics) provides clinical and administrative support across the Pediatrics and Primary Care Departments of the Community Health Center. The role focuses on coordinating vaccines for all patient populations while performing general MA duties, including assisting with procedures, taking vitals, and preparing exam rooms. The SCMA must have prior pediatric experience to support patient care and vaccine programs effectively. This position requires travel between all four CHC locations to ensure consistent, high-quality services.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support the organization's mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of work and fostering positive relationships with co-workers
  • Demonstrate commitment to the CHC's mission of excellent customer service in all internal and external interactions and in the performance of duties
  • Coordinate vaccine administration and maintain vaccine inventory for all patients, ensuring accurate NJIIS documentation and compliance with state guidelines
  • Perform clinical duties, including pediatric and general MA care: taking vitals, administering injections, assisting with exams and procedures, and preparing exam rooms
  • Support administrative workflows, including patient scheduling, referrals, and other front- and back-office tasks
  • Assist with onboarding and training MA staff, emphasizing pediatric care and vaccine protocols
  • Travel between all four CHC locations to ensure consistent patient care and program support
  • Adhere to agency infection control and safety policies and maintain compliance with organizational standards
  • Participate in initiatives to improve patient care, workflow efficiency, and staff collaboration
  • Perform other duties as assigned; omission of specific duties does not exclude responsibilities that are similar, related, or logically assigned

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved school
  • 2 years of medical assistant experience with prior pediatric and leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with vaccine coordination, EHR, and NJIIS
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and client services philosophy in all interactions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Valid New Jersey Driver's license and Auto Insurance

Working Conditions/Physical Demand: Working indoors with telephone, copier, fax machine, computer, printer, centrifuge, electric exam table, glucometer, nebulizer, needles/syringes, oxygen equipment, personal automobile, scales, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, thermometer, venipuncture equipment, and wheelchair.

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the total compensation range for this position is USD $30,00.00 to USD $65, When determining an offer, VNA Health Group considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's work experience, education/training, relevant skills, internal pay equity, and market and organizational conditions. The total compensation range reflects the total package, including base salary, overtime, bonuses, add-on incentives, special clinical compensation, retirement plans, and all other benefits.
