We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Scribe to support our orthopedic surgeons in both clinical and surgical settings. This role focuses on real-time documentation, ensuring accurate and efficient charting during patient consults, pre-op visits, post-op follow-ups, and procedures.

This is not a surgical tech role — no instrument handling or direct patient care. The scribe enables the surgeon to focus fully on patient care while managing EHR documentation and workflow support.

Responsibilities

  • Document patient encounters in real time during clinic and/or surgical settings.
  • Enter accurate information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Track diagnostic imaging, medications, orders, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate surgical notes, pre-op/post-op documentation, and procedure logs.
  • Prepare charts, update patient histories, and ensure documentation completeness.
  • Communicate with surgeons, MAs, nurses, scheduling, and imaging departments.
  • Assist surgeon workflow by anticipating documentation needs.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all confidentiality standards.
  • Support efficiency in a high-volume orthopedic practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a medical or surgical scribe preferred; orthopedic experience a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology; orthopedic terminology is highly beneficial.
  • Comfort and accuracy typing while observing clinical or surgical encounters.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain composed and efficient in fast-paced environments.
  • High school diploma required; coursework in health sciences preferred.
