The Opportunity

The Major Gifts Officer role is for an experienced fundraising professional who is as motivated as much by the desire to identify transformative donors as they are by Georgia Conservancy's mission of healthy lands, thriving communities, and a future where every Georgian can enjoy the outdoors for generations to come.

This position will play a vital role in securing new sustainable funding streams for Georgia Conservancy by creating a major donor program. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned frontline fundraiser with an entrepreneurial spirit to help us grow support from individual donors.

The Ideal Candidate

Georgia Conservancy is looking for an experienced nonprofit fundraiser who can build meaningful partnerships with individual philanthropists within a portfolio of new and existing prospects. The ideal candidate has:


• At least 8+ years of direct fundraising experience.


• Significant major gift fundraising experience with an emphasis on prospect research, donor cultivation, direct solicitation, and successful closing of five, six, or seven-figure gifts.


• Individual giving portfolio development and management with proven success moving donors through a pipeline.


• Exceptional and persuasive written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interface with prospective funders, staff, community leaders, and senior-level executives.


• Adept at using Bloomerang or similar CRM, Microsoft Suite, Google Docs, and Teams.


• Deep knowledge of national philanthropic networks, individuals, and organizations.


• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting with aggressive deadlines; management of multiple priorities and projects while balancing long-term goals.


• High level of integrity, trust, and accountability along with excellent judgment, intuition, and common sense, as well as the right blend of professional confidence with a keen sense of diplomacy.


• Collaborative, team-oriented work style with self-motivation and drive to get the job done.


• Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time within the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities


• Develop a strategy for major gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals, establishing or refining systems, procedures and policies.


• Identify and attract individual major donors to make five, six, and seven-figure contributions to Georgia Conservancy to gradually secure $1+ million annually.


• Maturely manage an individual giving portfolio that includes family foundations.


• Collaborate to develop timely and compelling proposals, reports, budgets and other fundraising materials.


• Maintain up-to-date records in the database of donor engagement and moves management.


• Define and implement monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising targets based on metrics that include clear and regular reporting and chart a strategy to achieve those goals.


• Stay abreast of philanthropic trends and proactively explore partnerships with mission-aligned organizations and funders in the public and private sectors.


• Ensure all fundraising activities align with Georgia Conservancy's ethical standards, donor privacy requirements, and financial reporting obligations.


• Remain current on program activity & impact related to Georgia Conservancy's mission.

Location

The individual may be based in either the Atlanta or Savannah metro areas, where our two offices are located. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing up to two remote workdays per week. In

addition, the role requires travel throughout the state of Georgia to meet with donors and attend meetings and events.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 to $90,000, with the opportunity to earn an annual performance-based bonus of up to 10%.

Georgia Conservancy provides a generous benefits package, including 26 days of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage. The role also includes a hybrid work

schedule option and an annual allowance for professional development, supporting both work-life balance and continued career growth.
