Amerisure is recruiting for an Underwriting Assistant to join our team This role will be hybrid 2 days a week in the office & 3 from home. This position will sit in Farmington Hills, MI ideally, though could sit in Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Atlanta, GA, Tampa, FL; Indianapolis, IN; Phoenix, AZ or Dallas, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for supporting the underwriting team by gathering, verifying, and organizing data from policyholder applications, financial records, and other supporting documents. A high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team to ensure accurate underwriting decisions are made.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect, review, and process financial records and other documentation needed for the underwriting process.
  • Assist in gathering additional information at the request of underwriting partners.
  • Organize and maintain client files, ensuring that all required documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Support the underwriting team with administrative tasks, such as document organization and report preparation.
  • Collaborate with agency partners to collect compliance documents and address inquiries from agencies and insureds.
  • Assess risk by accurately completing Amerisure's underwriting risk assessment tools.
  • Recognize discrepancies or missing information in applications and take steps to address and resolve the issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of data.
  • Assist the underwriting team with administrative duties, including document organization and report preparation.
  • Learn and adhere to underwriting guidelines and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, financial services, customer service or administration, preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to input data with a high accuracy rating, and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally, less than 5%
