Summary

The Material Handler will be responsible for facilitating the orderly production and distribution of products by unloading trailers, sorting product, managing inventory, pulling orders, delivering materials to work centers, and preparing finished products for shipment. This role requires attention to detail, organization, and the ability to operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manually handle, load and unload goods from vehicles. This includes lifting and carrying boxes and other items from the delivery truck to the warehouse sorting area - carton weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Stack and organize items/cartons according to instructions, and check for any damages or shortages.
  • Pull orders from inventory and deliver production products and materials where needed.
  • Stage finished products for final distribution.
  • Locate products and materials by pulling and verifying against production orders.
  • Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening products and materials.
  • Document products and materials, recording units delivered and their respective locations.
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing products.
  • Document product shipments by recording units shipped.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move items or signal equipment operators to relocate products and materials as needed.
  • Keep inventory areas, loading areas, and machinery clean and organized.
  • Open containers and cartons, sort, and catalog materials as necessary according to purchase orders or picking instructions.
  • Engage in cross-department training and collaborate with colleagues to ensure optimum performance.
  • Perform any other duties required to support business operations and facilities maintenance as assigned by Management, whether occasionally or permanently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Material Handler, Lumper, Truck Unloader, General Warehouse Laborer, or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
  • Valid forklift operator's license or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
  • Physical strength and endurance to lift and move heavy materials up to 50 lbs in a warehouse environment with moderate temperature control systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.

Physical Requirements

  • The Material Handler position requires the ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), operate equipment, and perform physical tasks in a warehouse environment.
