Overview

The Specialist Trust & Collections plays a vital role of KPMG Law's Business Enablement team and is focused on supporting KPMG Law Leadership in achieving key business metrics. 50% of the role will be related to Trust Clerk responsibilities and 50% will be related to client collections. 


What you will do

Trust Clerk (50 %) 

  • Process time-sensitive deposit and withdrawal transactions as directed by legal teams in conjunction with AR, AP and Treasury, ensuring forms are accurately completed and reconciled to trust records, and organized and detailed financial documentation is maintained

  • Ensure compliance with Law Society regulations and risk requirements

  • Suggest process improvements and maintain compliance with Law Society requirements across all provinces

  • Monitor and coordinate the disbursement of inactive trust funds

  • Respond to queries from stakeholders (legal teams, Central Finance, banking representatives) in a prompt and professional manner

  • Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis 

Client Collections (50 %) 

  • Day to Day management of client accounts, including reconciliation, collection calls, dispute identification and resolution

  • Locate and notify clients of past due balances by telephone, email etc.

  • Respond to internal and external client account inquiries

  • Interact with the appropriate departments to research outstanding balances and resolve client issues

  • Work with partners, managers and administrative staff on client information that will improve the timeliness of billings and collections

  • Implement our collection management processes and procedures in a professional manner to maximize recovery and minimize debt, while maintaining the client relationship


What you bring to the role
  • College or University degree in Business, Finance or Accounting. 
  • Strong knowledge of accounting preferred 
  • Minimum two years' experience in a related field. 
  • Experience in a law firm or similar role is an asset. 
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills required. 
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize with time-sensitive transactions. 
  • Advanced skills with IBS considered an asset. 

KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $55,000 to $82,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
