Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate social worker to join our youth services team. The Youth Program Social Worker will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to participants, fostering positive social and emotional development, and addressing the diverse needs of our participants.

Examples of Duties

  • Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with participants to address personal and emotional challenges, offering guidance and support.
  • Group Counseling: Facilitate group counseling sessions to promote healthy communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills among program participants.
  • Assessment and Intervention: Assess the social and emotional needs of participants and develop intervention plans to address challenges and promote well-being.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with staff, school teachers, administrators, and other organizations to identify and address social and emotional concerns affecting participants.
  • Parental Involvement: Engage parents and guardians in the support process, providing resources and information to enhance their understanding of their child's social and emotional needs.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the well-being of participants by collaborating with external agencies, community resources, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage crises effectively, providing immediate support to participants in times of emotional distress.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions in compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
  • Educational Workshops: Organize and conduct workshops for participants, parents, and staff on topics related to social and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborative Programming: Work collaboratively with program coordinators and other staff to integrate social work principles into the overall structure and goals of the afterschool program.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work or related field.

State licensure or certification as a social worker.

Proven experience in providing counseling and support services to children and adolescents.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in social work.

Supplemental Information

Selected candidates must meet a residency requirement, which includes living in the state of Illinois or Iowa and must report within 60 minutes after being called into work for an overtime assignment.
