Job Summary

The Foreclosure Prevention Counselor plays a critical role in assisting individuals and families facing housing instability due to foreclosure. This position requires a compassionate and skilled professional who can provide support, guidance, and resources to clients in distress. The ideal candidate will utilize various counseling techniques and therapeutic approaches to empower clients, helping them navigate their financial challenges while promoting emotional well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' financial situations and emotional needs.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and crisis intervention.
  • Develop personalized action plans to address clients' foreclosure issues, incorporating financial literacy education and resource referrals.
  • Facilitate workshops on topics related to foreclosure prevention, financial management, and stress coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and case notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and resources to connect clients with additional support services.
  • Conduct follow-up sessions to monitor progress and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Engage in clinical research to stay updated on best practices in foreclosure prevention counseling.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in mental health counseling, crisis management, or social work is essential.
  • Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding for accurate medical documentation.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health practices including grief counseling, addiction counseling, and PTSD care.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including children, individuals with developmental disabilities, and geriatrics.
  • Proficiency in telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient assessment techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from various backgrounds.
  • A commitment to professional development through ongoing training in areas such as art therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or applied behavior analysis is desirable. This role requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those experiencing housing crises while providing empathetic support through effective counseling methods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $4, $4,865.63 per month
