Overview
We are looking to hire a skilled
Technical PM
to join an established team, that supports one of our
major oil and gas customers
. The successful candidate will be expected to join the team
onsite
at the downtown Houston office.
This is not a remote or hybrid role.
The
Technical PM
provides quality service in the delivery and maintenance of highly stable systems Executes the implementation, maintenance, and support of hardware, software and systems necessary to support the production, transportation, and marketing of hydrocarbons Works closely with IT business relationship managers and other IT service teams to define objectives.
Delivery & Execution
- Assists in daily operations of design, configuration, implementation, support, troubleshooting, maintenance, performance monitoring and the development of specialized procedures relating to the use of the corporate cloud computing environment
- Ensures the functional, cost effective, and timely support of enterprise systems on a 24/7 basis
- Works closely with technical staff on best practice development and implementation.
- Participates in team resource planning in delivery of support & project activities
- Participates in configuration, debugging, and support for infrastructure
- Supports field and corporate rollouts of technology, leveraging Client project management best practices
- Assists the stand-up of necessary system software, hardware, and equipment (physical or virtual) to meet changing infrastructure needs
- Assist in the creation and optimization of complex technology solutions
- Provides regular status to leadership regarding progress of Systems Administration efforts
- Enables faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights
- Maintains reliability, performance, recoverability, and security of the corporate on-premises & cloud systems environments
Support & Enablement
- Contributes technical input and participates in team discussions regarding technical solutions
- Identifies and escalates roadblocks and obstacles to ensure project continuity
- Responds to requests from product teams and stakeholders, escalating complex issues appropriately
- Creates and maintains technical documentation following established templates and standards
- Uses monitoring tools to identify system issues and intervention is needed
- Assists with Virtualization & Containerization Tasks
- Administers and monitors Hybrid Infrastructure
- Participates in scripting of repetitive tasks
- Assists in the deployment & support of business applications
Strategy & Planning
- Researches and recommends emerging technologies and infrastructure solutions that align with business objectives and technical roadmaps
- Contributes to the creation of annual goals for self and server team to meet IT and business goals and strategies
- Analyzes system performance metrics and creates improvement plans to optimize infrastructure efficiency and reduce operational costs
- Collaborates on IT budget planning by providing technical input on hardware/software requirements, lifecycle management, and cost-benefit analysis for proposed initiatives
- Contributes to security strategy development by assessing infrastructure vulnerabilities, researching compliance requirements, and recommending security enhancements
- Supports digital transformation initiatives by evaluating cloud migration opportunities, automation potential, and infrastructure modernization projects that enhance business agility
People
- Fosters collaboration with team members to drive value, and identify and resolve impediments
- Advocates for the end user and stakeholder by becoming associated with the product, empathizing with and understanding user needs
- Guides more junior team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks
- Participates in and contributes to learning activities around systems administration core practices
- Work closely with technical staff on best practice development and implementation.
Additional
- Assists the IT Enterprise Systems Manager in development of standard operating procedures.

Other Job Responsibilities
- Travel: Requires travel to Client hub and field sites up to 10% of the time.
- Analyzes Helpdesk statistics to recommend long-term actions to decrease incidents or reduce resolution time (i.e. recommending training, changing manufacturers to increase meantime between failures, etc.)
- Establishes and maintains regular and ongoing written and in-person communications with the organization's stakeholders, department heads, and end-users regarding pertinent support activities.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
- Communicate effectively (written/verbal) with technical and non-technical audiences, possesses strong interpersonal skills, is self-motivated, and is innovative in a fast-paced environment.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Six (6) years' minimum experience in systems administration
- Three (3) years minimum experience leading/supervising multiple enterprise level IT Infrastructure projects
- Experience in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in systems infrastructure and architecture, including:
- Identity & access management: SSO, identity management systems
- Server management: web, application, and database servers
- Enterprise-scale experience with Windows, Linux, storage systems, Microsoft 365, and AWS
- Integration & automation: API gateways, ETL tools, scripting/programming (PowerShell)
- Collaboration platforms and enterprise software solutions
- Strong problem solving and communication skills required
- Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment
Education Requirements
- Required: A bachelor's degree in management information systems (MIS), Computer Science or a related field, preferably supplemented by course work in management OR an equivalent combination of 10+ years of experience, education, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
- Preferred: Certifications in some combination of ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft 365, AWS
- Alternative: Commensurate experience in supporting related technologies.
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

Hours: 40 hours per week (minimum)

Engagement: W2
Salary: $135k-$155K depending on experience
