Millennia Professional Services, a full-service civil engineering, land surveying, and geotechnical firm with offices in Downers Grove, Morton, and Fairview Heights, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri, is seeking candidates to fill the position of Construction Resident Engineer at our Downers Grove location.

Millennia is seeking a Construction Resident Engineer with 10+ years of overall experience and 5+ years as a Resident Engineer. Qualified candidates will be responsible for leading and supervising a field staff in contract management, administration, construction engineering, and project coordination on roadway and bridge projects throughout the Chicagoland area.

Millennia is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus for this position.

Position Requirements include Software Experience:

  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers and technicians to perform onsite construction observation on roadway and bridge projects for the Tollway, IDOT, and municipalities.
  • Supervise the preparation of project documentation, quantity calculations, and materials inspection to ensure conformance with the project plans and specifications.
  • Review and analyze contractor schedules, staging plans, traffic control plans, shop drawings, and other required submittals.
  • Review inspector daily reports on construction observation and testing activities
  • Interact and communicate with clients, contractors, utility companies, and other staff members
  • Conduct progress meetings and prepare reports on project status
  • Recognize and address potential changes or additional work, contract conflicts or ambiguities in the plans/specifications, and changes in field conditions
  • Previous Resident Engineer experience on IDOT, Local Agency, and/or ISHTA construction Phase III projects
  • High proficiency with IDOT's CMMS software and ISHTA's Trimble Unity
  • Current IDOT certification for Documentation of Contract Quantities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Critical thinking and analysis
  • Excellent leadership abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to drive to and from job sites

Preferred Requirements:

  • IDOT QCQA certifications in PCC, HMA, and Aggregates
  • 10 Hr OSHA certification
  • Licensed Professional Engineer

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
