Awarded Major League Soccer's 16th franchise in 2008, the Philadelphia Union officially took the pitch in 2010 and have been raising expectations ever since. Owned and operated by Union Sports & Entertainment, the Philadelphia Union call Subaru Park home—an 18,500-seat, world-class, soccer-specific stadium set along the Delaware River beneath the Commodore Barry Bridge, just 15 miles from downtown Philadelphia.
On the field, the Union have established themselves as one of Major League Soccer's most consistent and competitive clubs. The Union also hosted the Eastern Conference Final in 2021, were crowned Eastern Conference Champions in 2022, and advanced to the MLS Cup Final that same year in one of the most thrilling matches in league history. The club has continued to represent Philadelphia on the international stage through participation in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Philadelphia Union Mascot will engage with members of the public in the community to promote the sport of soccer, increase traffic to Subaru Park, and create a more memorable experience for fans. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with fans while gaining hands-on exposure to the operations of a professional sports organization through matchdays, community appearances, and special events. Applicants must enjoy interacting with the public and feel comfortable engaging with children, families, and large crowds.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a full-time performer for the Philadelphia Union Mascot, while representing the Philadelphia Union at several designated appearances including but not limited to Union events, hospital visits, school visits, soccer clinics, watch parties, sponsor events, charitable events and other various events throughout the year.
- Develop new mascot routines, propose and crowd engagement ideas.
- Collaborate with the game presentation department to execute in-game skits, videos and theme night creative.
- Run and manage the Phang social channels with the support of the social media department and marketing department maintain a constant presence and continuing to develop Phang's brand.
- Manage all communication to the Phang email and schedule all appearances.
- Act as a brand ambassador for the Philadelphia Union while properly representing the organization in a professional manner at all times.
- Create memorable experiences by greeting fans, energizing the crowd, and more.
- Maintain effective working relationships with community members of all ages and abilities as well as Philadelphia Union staff and external contacts.
- Maintain an animated personality with good interpersonal communication skills and creativity.
- Responsible for transportation and parting to and from games and events, unless otherwise notified.
- Conduct costume maintenance including cleaning, minor repairs and other basic upkeep.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous professional mascot or character performance experience required.
- Ability to meet costume fit and safety requirements, which typically align with a height range of 5'7"–5'11" and weight range of 140–200 pounds.
- Reliable transportation and a strong commitment to punctuality.
- Availability to work office hours, as well as nights, weekends, and holidays, including all home matches and select club events.
- Knowledge of soccer and basic soccer skills preferred.
- High-energy, athletic, and expressive performer with strong non-verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable performing in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and varying outdoor environments.
- Coachable, team-oriented, and open to feedback and ongoing performance development.
- Natural ability to engage, entertain, and connect with fans of all ages and backgrounds.
- Willingness to represent the Philadelphia Union brand with professionalism, enthusiasm, and pride at all times.

This position requires valid criminal background clearances in the state of PA:
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
