The Wausau Woodchucks and Wausau Ignite are seeking a qualified individual to assist in the retail operations for the upcoming season as the Retail and  Merchandising Intern. This position will gain hands-on experience in all areas of merchandising and retail operations, including but not limited to merchandising, omni-commerce, buying, inventory management, analysis, and customer service. This intern will ensure that all fans have a great experience with their Woodchucks and Ignite orders. They will also assist in the pre/post-season set up of the stadium retail store. This summer internship program runs from mid-May to late August. All interns must be available for home games, along with any additional events assigned throughout the season.     Responsibilities Include:
  • Monitor and fulfill online orders 
  • Confirm the consumer-experience for pricing, quality, item-selection, etc. is consistent across all purchase mediums (in-store, web, mobile, etc.) for optimal purchasing behavior 
  • Maintain organization and presentation of in-stadium retail store and online store site 
  • Perform bi-weekly inventory audits to ensure physical and online inventories match 
  • Work within Square POS software to set up online and in person commerce 
  • Analyze online sales trends and provide sales recaps 
  • Work with vendors to design and order new items 
  • Provide excellent customer service to our fans and customers 
  • Forecast item level and monthly demand to create a high-level plan for the off season and future 
  • Ability to step into game day staff roles as needed 
  • Assist in pre/post season clean-up of the ballpark  
  • Other duties as assigned  
   Required Skills:
  • Knowledge or experience in areas of retail and ecommerce preferred 
  • Analytical and Excel skills for forecasting 
  • Must be self-motivated, teachable, organized, and have great attention to detail  
  • Ability to be decisive and problem solve in high pressure situations 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills 
  • Ability to multi-task  
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, and reach  
  • Ability to stand and move around for long periods of time  
   Who we are:  The Wausau Woodchucks and Wausau Ignite are members of the Northwoods League and are located in Wausau, WI. Annually drawing in more than 50,000 fans from all over the state of Wisconsin, the Woodchucks and Ignite have a reputation of being a fun, family-friendly option for family and corporate entertainment in Central Wisconsin. The Woodchucks and Ignite annually hire 35-40 interns. Former interns have gone on to work for the Minnesota Twins, Tennessee Titans, and many other minor league and collegiate league teams across the nation.
