Medical Billing Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our team of highly productive individuals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, and facilitating smooth reimbursement workflows. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, coding systems, and medical records management. Candidates with proficiency in EMR and EHR systems, along with knowledge of medical terminology, will thrive in this position.
Duties
- 100% compliance of HIPAA and confidentiality.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes to maximize reimbursements.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Communicate with insurance providers regarding claim statuses, discrepancies, or additional information requests.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and update billing information accordingly.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and guidelines related to medical billing and coding standards.
- Assist with resolving billing issues by collaborating with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance companies.
- Stay current with changes in medical coding standards such as ICD updates, CPT revisions, and other relevant regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, medical coding, or related healthcare administration roles.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for billing and record management.
- Experience with medical collection processes and insurance claim submissions.
- Understanding of medical records management and compliance standards.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to ensure accuracy in all billing activities.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and translate it into appropriate codes for reimbursement purposes.
- Prior experience working in a healthcare office environment is preferred. Pay: $ $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
