About the Role:

The Maintenance Helper plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of equipment and facilities at our Fort Wayne site. This position involves assisting skilled maintenance workers in performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of machinery and tools. The ultimate goal is to maintain a safe and efficient working environment that supports production goals. By effectively collaborating with the maintenance team, the Maintenance Helper contributes to minimizing downtime and enhancing productivity. This role is essential for upholding the quality standards of our consumer support services and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or construction environment.
  • Familiarity with welding equipment and techniques.
  • Certification in safety training related to maintenance work.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment, including performing routine inspections.
  • Utilize hand tools and machines to support skilled tradespeople in various maintenance tasks.
  • Climb ladders and operate scissor lifts to access hard-to-reach areas for maintenance work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand maintenance requirements.
  • Support welding and fabrication tasks as needed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Skills:

The required skills of professionalism and precision measuring are vital for maintaining high standards in all maintenance tasks. Daily work involves climbing ladders and operating scissor lifts, which requires physical fitness and adherence to safety protocols. Reading blueprints is essential for understanding the layout and specifications of machinery, ensuring accurate repairs. Proficiency with hand tools and machines allows the Maintenance Helper to effectively assist skilled tradespeople in their tasks. Additionally, familiarity with welding equipment enhances the ability to contribute to more complex maintenance projects.
