Injection Molding Engineer

A global automotive parts manufacturer in the Lexington, KY area is seeking an experienced Injection Molding Engineer / Trainer to support their operations. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of injection molding, plastics, or injection molding machine maintenance experience in automotive manufacturing setting, with the ability to provide training, troubleshooting, and process support to improve quality across company locations.
This is a full-time and direct-hire position, including medical/dental/vision/life insurances, 401k, and more.
Injection Molding Engineer / Trainer Responsibilities:
- Support various injection molding projects, including process development, equipment and materials selection, and training/professional development for technicians.
- Travel to other company locations to assist with process development, mold design, material specifications, and implementation of standardized training for operators and technicians at all company locations (~50% travel--two weeks on location at home facility, followed by two weeks traveling regionally to provide support at other locations)
- Provide technical support for new and ongoing projects, collaborating cross-functionally with sales and equipment teams on tooling, materials, and process development
- Develop a robust technical training program for injection molding, process, and/or maintenance technicians (depending on candidate's area of expertise), including graduated skill levels and associated compensation
- Implement and support various injection molding quality improvement projects, process development, and training methods for technicians
- Enhance production capabilities and product quality, with an eye towards continuous improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Injection Molding Engineer / Trainer Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in injection molding operations, preferably in an automotive or lean manufacturing environment
- Able to travel up to 50% regionally to other company locations
- KEYENCE PLC and controller knowledge is preferred
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Prior experience in a supervisory or training/mentoring role is a plus
