Financial Coding Specialist – Oncology Department (Top Hospital in the Chicagoland Area)
Direct Hire Opportunity through MedOp Solutions

Pay Range:
$20 – $29 per hour
Placement within the salary range is dependent on factors such as relevant experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement will follow the rules outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
About the Opportunity
MedOp Solutions is partnering with the top hospital in the Chicagoland area to hire a Financial Coding Specialist for their Oncology Department. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, experienced coding professional passionate about accuracy, compliance, and supporting exceptional patient care.
As part of one of the region's most respected healthcare institutions, you'll collaborate with a world-class oncology team to ensure accurate coding, billing, and charge capture that align with organizational and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize coding expertise to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for oncology outpatient visits.
- Assign Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes for facility clinic visits.
- Review clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and appropriate charge capture for infusion and oncology services.
- Collaborate with Revenue Integrity, Patient Accounting, HB Coding, and case management to support billing and reimbursement accuracy.
- Interpret clinical documentation using knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes to select appropriate codes.
- Follow all ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, and CPT Assistant standards.
- Support compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum six months of coding experience in an
oncology setting
. - At least two years of
physician and/or hospital billing experience
, including
infusion billing
. - Proficiency with
ICD-10, CPT, and chemotherapy infusion billing
. - Understanding of
Medicaid, PPO, HMO
, and other payer models. - Strong analytical, data entry, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary staff in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Associate degree or
CCSP certification
. - Certified Coder (CPC, CCA, or equivalent)
