Job Summary

This position regularly performs housekeeping duties and ensures all offices, resident/guest rooms, and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Performs a variety of housekeeping duties. Cleans rooms and halls. Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens. Performs cleaning in conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness. Cleans, vacuums, dusts, and sanitizes bathrooms, rooms, halls, and lobbies. Makes beds. Replenishes supplies. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A moderate degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities

Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Reviewing all departmental operational and safety policies and procedures.
  2. Performs the day-to-day housekeeping functions in accordance with established housekeeping procedures and as assigned by supervision.
  3. Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. Reports all hazardous equipment or conditions to management.
  4. Cleans floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing and disinfecting.
  5. Cleans and polish any furnishings in the hallways, stairways and elevators.
  6. Cleans resident rooms (includes vacuum carpet, mop, dust, disinfect and sanitize bathrooms, washing mirrors and pictures).
  7. Daily collect all trash from rooms, offices, lounges and bathrooms.
  8. Cleans wall, windows and baseboards by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc. Keep all windows, cabinets, doors, mirrors, smudge free and clean.
  9. Assists setting up dining room, activity and living rooms as necessary.
  10. Reports any needed repairs to the Plant Operations department.
  11. Keeps all housekeeping equipment, storage areas, janitor closets and housekeeping cart clean and uncluttered.
  12. Responds to resident needs as necessary.
  13. Laundering of facility linens as outlined by supervision.
  14. Keeps the supervisor informed of all supply needs.
  15. Reports all accidents/incidents to the supervisor no matter how minor they may be.
  16. Ensures that cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
  17. Turn in all articles found to the supervisor.
  18. Maintains the confidentiality of resident information and honor the residents' personal property rights..

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in cleaning, commercial cleaning, janitorial services, or custodial work preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and responsibly.
  • Reliable transportation is a plus for timely arrival at work sites.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks including standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting moderate loads. This position is ideal for individuals committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness in a professional setting.
