Project Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Accountant who will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of all assigned projects. This role includes developing and maintaining project budgets, tracking costs and revenue, and providing accurate financial reporting. The Project Accountant collaborates closely with project managers and other departments to ensure projects remain profitable and compliant with accounting principles and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Process initial project budgets for all projects.
• Assist in monitoring budgets and expenses, tracking invoices, and coordinating with the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely payments.
• Track and release subcontractor payments and related release documents.
• Conduct job costing analysis and provide insights and recommendations to improve profitability.
• Prepare and review financial reports related to project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures, including WIP.
• Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Gather information from Subcontractors and prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as needed.
• Schedule, attend, and/or participate in project meetings as needed.
• Project management support, bringing attention to project budget and costs.
• Process Subcontractor change orders upon approval by Project Manager and CEO.
• Process Subcontractor monthly billings, reconciled with Project Manager's billing to client.
• Assist Operations and Accounting Teams with entries to accounting software related to project budgets, Subcontracts, and change orders.
• Facilitate change order management processes related to contract modifications.
• Maintain electronic and email document filing requirements.
• Oversee document management systems to maintain accurate records of all contracts and project related documentation.
• Maintain relationships with contractors and vendors to ensure ongoing compliance and performance.
• Perform all tasks and maintenance as required by client-specific web-based applications.

Qualifications

• We are looking for a detail-oriented team player who can produce quality work, work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines.
• Excellent listening skills and strong written and oral communication skills.
• 2+ years' experience in accounting, in the construction industry.
• Job cost accounting required.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• Must have excellent computer skills and be highly proficient in Excel and other MS Office applications, Bluebeam, Foundation, and DocuSign.
• Ability to work with all levels of project staff and organization.
• Strong knowledge of compliance management practices.
• Proficient in document review and records management.
• Excellent research abilities coupled with strong analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
