Position Summary
Perform clerical and specimen processing work and to draw blood from patients.
Essential Functions
- Answer the telephone and intercom.
- Respond to and direct telephone requests for patient care.
- Organize blood collection work.
- Draw blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients.
- Contact physician offices for appropriate billing information in accordance with corporate compliance policies.
- Performing H.I.S. registration
- Call lab results to ordering nursing station, office or physician.
- File test reports and worksheets.
- Prepare statistical results as requested by supervisory personnel.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of specimen processing areas and outpatient blood collection areas.
- Train other personnel in various procedures.
- Participate in customer and guest relation programs.
Experience and Requirements
- Familiarity with lab terminology, knowledge of basic mathematics, use of calculator, typing/keyboard skills.
- Knowledge of streets and locations of various doctors' offices preferred. Marketing experience preferred.
- N.Y.S. driver's license; ability to be insured Medical Center's insurance carrier; registered, reliable personally owned vehicle to use for work.
- Phlebotomy certificate from an approved school or one year phlebotomy experience.
EDUCATION:
- High school graduate
- One year Phlebotomy Experience or Phlebotomy Certificate

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is the only full-service hospital in Niagara County. The facility offers a 171-bed regional medical center with extensive inpatient and outpatient services, including a full-service Medical & Psychiatric Emergency Room, The Heart Center of Niagara featuring an on-site Cath Lab, Niagara Wellness Connection Center, The Wound Center of Niagara, OB/GYN Center and UBMD Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. We also offer a comprehensive range of surgical services.
The first hospital in Niagara to be designated a stroke center by the New York State Department of Health, we operate several satellite facilities, including the Summit Healthplex, Tuscarora Health Center, primary care offices in Niagara Falls, Wheatfield, and the Town of Niagara. Schoellkopf Health Center, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility that specializes in short-term rehabilitation and elder care. Like the medical center itself, Schoellkopf features 100-percent private room accommodation.
