Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Organization Overview: Far + Wise provides academic support and experiential education for students from early elementary through high school and beyond, and by removing financial and other barriers, ensures that all students can achieve their life, education, and career goals.
Job Overview: We are seeking a reliable, responsible, and adaptable substitute Teacher to join our team, responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the absence of regular classroom teachers. The ideal candidate will create a positive and productive learning environment, following the prepared lesson plans and ensuring continuity in the educational experience. This role requires strong classroom management skills, adaptability, and a passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities in the classroom.
- Support the Lead Teacher in Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful learning space.
- Assist students in completing assignments and answering questions related to the subject material.
- Supervise students during class periods, lunch, recess, and in-between classes as required.
- Uphold school policies, guidelines, and standards of conduct to foster a positive school culture.
- Complete any necessary reports or documentation at the end of each day.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with children or in a classroom setting is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work in various educational settings (e.g., elementary, middle, high school).
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Substitutes must be able to obtain a background check and volunteer badge at the Blaine County Schools District Office. We will contact applicants to provide them with more information about this process.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, move around the classroom, and respond promptly to students' needs.
- Must be able to lift and carry light classroom materials as needed.
Compensation: Generally, substitutes are paid $88 dollars per day, for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. For Wednesdays, substitutes are paid $110 dollars per day, because the schedule requires an extra hour of commitment (see below).
Schedule: This is an on-call, as-needed position, with flexible work days and varying assignments across grade levels and subjects. Our classroom spaces are in Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum.
On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, substitutes should plan to arrive at the designated campus at 2 pm. On Wednesdays, substitutes should plan to arrive at the designated campus at 1 pm.
