Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at a non-surgical clinic specializing in the care of cats and dogs. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will provide essential support to our veterinarians, ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic and delivering exceptional care to our furry patients. This role requires a genuine love for animals, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Animal Handling and Care:

  2. Assist veterinarians with restraining and handling cats and dogs during examinations and procedures.

  3. Administer medications and treatments under the supervision of veterinarians.

  4. Clinic Maintenance and Cleanliness:

  5. Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, treatment areas, and other clinic spaces.

  6. Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for animals and clients.

  7. Client Communication and Education:

  8. Communicate with clients regarding appointment scheduling, follow-up care, and general inquiries.

  9. Educate clients on basic animal care and medication administration

  10. Display exceptional customer service skills, addressing client concerns with empathy and professionalism.

  11. Administrative Support:

  12. Maintain accurate records of patient information, medical history, and treatments in electronic or paper format.

  13. Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels.

  14. Handle billing and payment processing as necessary.

  15. Collaborative Teamwork:

  16. Collaborate with veterinarians, and any other team memberscyo ensure seamless patient care.

  17. Support colleagues during examinations, treatments, and emergencies.
  18. Foster a positive and respectful work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in veterinary assistance is a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated passion for animal welfare and an understanding of basic animal care practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and gently.
  • Knowledge of common veterinary medications, treatments, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and record-keeping.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required.
