A leading construction firm in the Galleria area of Houston, TX is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to join their growing team This is an exciting opportunity with an excellent work culture, long-tenured employees, competitive compensation and benefits, and room for advancement. This position is in office when not traveling locally to visit jobsites. Mileage is reimbursed. Starting compensation is $55,000 - $65,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
  • 1-3 years' experience in related position
  • Strong contractor knowledge including AIA contracts
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and documents

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate tenant improvement construction projects from lease execution through closeout, including scheduling and deliverables tracking.
  • Prepare and maintain bids, contracts, change orders, pay applications, RFIs, and project documentation; assist with invoice processing and insurance compliance.
  • Draft short-form contracts for low-risk scopes and collaborate with legal and construction managers on larger AIA contracts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Organize and update SmartSheet trackers for project schedules, critical lease dates, forecasts, and reports; ensure timely notifications and calendar integration.
  • Support development/construction teams with workload coordination, meeting agendas, and progress reporting using SmartSheet, Excel, and other systems.
