Description of Work Unit
Construction Services provides construction and remodel service to the various departments on campus to fulfill the mission of the University community.
Position Summary
The position will exist primarily to provide skilled carpentry assignments including layout and framing metal stud walls in commercial and institutional projects, stud framing, as well as setting of hollow metal jambs and frames. Position will also provide journeyman carpentry skills in the hanging of drywall commercial and institutional remodel and will include repair and replace stucco and plaster and texture.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials:
Experience Only:
- Four (4) years of full-time experience in Framing and Drywall which may include duties such as steel stud framing, setting of hollow metal jambs and frames and sheetrock hanging and finish.
OR
Education and Experience:
- A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or Framing and Drywall which may include duties such as steel stud framing, setting of hollow metal jambs and frames and sheetrock hanging and finish equal to four (4) years. *Please note, unofficial or official transcripts must be attached if utilizing education to meet the minimum qualifications.

- Decides on best method to install Insulation in new and existing walls.
- Decides on best safety practice to protect self, coworkers and best pedestrian traffic flow method.
- Decides on best demolition and containment methods for removal, replacement.
- Decides on dust control method based on a number of factors such as for dust barriers – is plastic or are hard walls required.
- Decides on appropriate flooring protection – is plastic carpet protection adequate or is Ramboard which is more durable required.
- Decides on proper dust remediation methods – exhaust to exterior or through the use of filter exhaust fan that recirculate air and capture dust.
