Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate and adaptable Substitute Co-Teacher to serve full-time across our expanding network of schools. In this role, you'll receive a competitive full-time salary while traveling between our locations in Sherwood, Tigard, and the Pearl District in Oregon. As a co-teacher, you'll step in to support lead teachers, assist with classroom activities, and ensure seamless continuity in education during absences or as needed. Key Responsibilities

Child Development and Care

  • Assist in implementing age-appropriate curriculum promoting cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Support assessments of children's progress and contribute to developmental records.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs, including those of children with special needs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment encouraging learning and exploration.

Environment and Resource Management

  • Help design and arrange classroom layouts to facilitate learning and ensure safety.
  • Assist in selecting and organizing age-appropriate materials and resources supporting the curriculum.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support management of classroom supplies and materials as needed.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Maintain communication with parents (e.g., newsletters, emails, apps) to share updates when appropriate.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss children's progress and address concerns.
  • Collaborate with lead teachers and colleagues to plan and implement center-wide events or themes.
  • Participate in team meetings across locations to discuss classroom needs and share best practices.

Leadership and Professional Growth

  • Provide guidance and support to classroom aides as a co-teacher.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development (e.g., workshops, courses).
  • Stay current with research and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Contribute to the center's professional learning community by sharing knowledge.

Additional Duties

  • Travel daily or as scheduled between Sherwood, Tigard, and Pearl District locations (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Adapt quickly to different classroom dynamics and team structures at each site.
  • Fill in for lead teachers or other staff on short notice, maintaining high standards of care.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a preschool or early childhood setting, with co-teaching or substitute experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment across multiple locations.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification and background check required (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between sites.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a bonus.
