Senior Buyer: Drive Strategic Procurement at Standard Iron
Ready to take the lead in maximizing our profitability and supply chain efficiency?
Standard Iron is looking for a Senior Buyer to take ownership of the strategic procurement of critical materials, including machined parts, hydraulic components, and specialized services. This isn't just about placing orders—it's about maximizing cost efficiency, ensuring optimal inventory levels, and building world-class supplier partnerships across one or more of our facilities.
If you thrive on negotiation, possess exceptional analytical skills, and are ready to impact the bottom line of a growing manufacturing leader, this is your next challenge.
Our Core Values: How We Work
Your role will be an expression of the principles that define Standard Iron:
  • Commitment to Customers: Ensuring a reliable flow of materials to meet production demands and ultimately deliver on our promise to the customer.
  • Commitment to People: Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Commitment to Action: Driving negotiations, resolving non-conforming material issues promptly, and actively seeking market trends to inform leadership.
The Mission: Optimize, Partner, and Save
As our Senior Buyer, you will be a strategic leader responsible for the health and efficiency of our supply chain:
  • Strategic Sourcing: Procure assigned commodities and utilize RFQs/RFPs to select suppliers based on the best blend of cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Cost & Inventory Control: Maintain optimal inventory levels, manage accurate ERP data (pricing, lead times), and leverage Exception Reports to guide proactive purchasing decisions.
  • Supplier Leadership: Recommend and implement material contracts, assist in critical negotiations, and manage our Supplier Certification Programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Impact: Collaborate with internal teams, particularly Sales, on forecasting needs and actively participate in cost-saving initiatives and material selection during the estimating phase.
What You Bring: The Essential Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on purchasing experience, preferably including hydraulic parts, machined parts, and/or steel.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Expertise: Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office; experience with CPM or CPIM certification is a plus.
  • Skills: Demonstrated success in negotiation, analysis, and strong professional communication.
Ready to take action and drive procurement strategy?
If you're a seasoned Buyer eager to take on a strategic leadership role, we encourage you to apply.
