About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Downstream Processing Scientist/Engineer to join our growing team at Shreenika. The ideal candidate will lead process development, scale-up, and optimization of product recovery and purification from microbial fermentation and/or enzymatic biocatalysis processes. This individual will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing DSP unit operations that achieve robust yield, purity, and cost targets at laboratory, pilot scale and commercial scale. The role will collaborate closely with fermentation, analytical, and formulation teams to establish end-to-end integrated bioprocesses. We're looking for someone who is scientifically curious, hardworking, and brings a collaborative, can-do attitude to the lab every day.

Key Responsibilities

As Sr. Scientist/Engineer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and optimization of downstream processes for small molecules, peptides, and proteins derived from fermentation.
  • Translate lab-scale DSP methods into pilot and commercial production workflows; define
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with fermentation, analytics, and manufacturing partners to support scale-up and technology transfer.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality material for customer projects and internal R&D.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Bio/Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 5 years of relevant industry experience;

OR M.S. with 5 -7 years;

OR B.S. with 7 -10 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Strong background in purification of peptides, proteins, and small molecules from fermentation broth.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in pilot-scale and commercial DSP operations.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory and process development skills.
  • Strong understanding of mass transfer, thermodynamics, and process scale-up principles.
  • Proven technical expertise and problem-solving ability in downstream processing.
  • Prior management or team leadership experience.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and strong work ethic.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100, $140,000.00 per year
