About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented
Grant Accountant
to support our client, a a local non-profit. This role is ideal for professionals with strong accounting skills and a passion for community impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review payment request packets for completeness and compliance
  • Verify funding details and prevent overpayments
  • Prepare and record journal entries for approved disbursements
  • Track disbursement activity to meet state payment timelines
  • Maintain organized records of budgets, awards, and payments
  • Record administrative fund advances and reimbursements
  • Prepare allocation entries for administrative cost recovery
  • Compile financial data for monthly reimbursement submissions and quarterly progress reports
  • Complete monthly reconciliations for dedicated grant accounts and general ledger balances
  • Maintain audit-ready files for all reimbursements, disbursements, and journal entries
  • Assist in preparing final fiscal reconciliations and close-out documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align fiscal and programmatic data
  • Communicate proactively to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely completion of reports
  • Support the Grant Accounting Supervisor with additional accounting and administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or grant accounting
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices
  • Proficiency in fund-accounting software (e.g., MIP) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong reconciliation, communication, and organizational skills with high attention to detail

$ $40.87
