About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Grant Accountant
to support our client, a a local non-profit. This role is ideal for professionals with strong accounting skills and a passion for community impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Review payment request packets for completeness and compliance
- Verify funding details and prevent overpayments
- Prepare and record journal entries for approved disbursements
- Track disbursement activity to meet state payment timelines
- Maintain organized records of budgets, awards, and payments
- Record administrative fund advances and reimbursements
- Prepare allocation entries for administrative cost recovery
- Compile financial data for monthly reimbursement submissions and quarterly progress reports
- Complete monthly reconciliations for dedicated grant accounts and general ledger balances
- Maintain audit-ready files for all reimbursements, disbursements, and journal entries
- Assist in preparing final fiscal reconciliations and close-out documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams to align fiscal and programmatic data
- Communicate proactively to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely completion of reports
- Support the Grant Accounting Supervisor with additional accounting and administrative tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or grant accounting
- Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices
- Proficiency in fund-accounting software (e.g., MIP) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong reconciliation, communication, and organizational skills with high attention to detail

Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The hourly range for this position is typically
$ $40.87
. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
