Grounds & Sports Fields Maintenance Technician – Chaparral Park

The position will primarily support Chaparral Park.

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll be responsible for a wide range of tasks that ensure our parks remain safe, vibrant, and in peak condition all year round.
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation related problems
- Repairing irrigation mainlines and conducting preventative maintenance on irrigation heads
- Programing irrigation controller system according to established water allocations
- Operating turf equipment such as mowers, tractors, aerators, and utility vehicles to maintain sports fields and landscaping
- Calibrating seed and fertilizer spreaders to uniformly plant seed and fertilize turf
- Calibrating and applying liquid fertilizer and seasonal herbicide control
- Leading the issue, use, and care of maintenance equipment and tools
- Training personnel on maintenance procedures and safety practices
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $27.88/hour.

Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent and three years of related experience.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Note: Graduated Driver's Licenses are considered restricted.
- Within six months of hire or promotion, an Arizona Pest Control Applicator certification possessing Category 1 (Industrial and Institutional), Category 3 (Ornamental & Turf) and Category 4 (Right-of-Way) must be obtained.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
