The organization is dedicated to empowering Asian Pacific (API) Americans in civic and public affairs through education, engagement, and leadership development. APAPA's initiatives include voter engagement, community partnerships, and developing future leaders to represent and support API representation in elected office and decisionmaking roles. The organization also celebrates the API community's contributions by hosting cultural ambassadorship-civic action crossover opportunities. At its core, APAPA champions representation to create a better, more equitable world.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Program Director, based in Sacramento, CA. The Program Director will oversee the planning, implementation, and management of programs that align with APAPA's mission. Daily responsibilities include developing programs, managing program budgets, ensuring stakeholder communication, and supervising staff and volunteers. The Director will work closely with community leaders, partners, sponsors, and foundations to expand organizational initiatives. Additionally, the role involves measuring program impact and ensuring consistency across all projects. Change management, small business engagement, and leadership experience with national membership organizations are ideal in this position. The Director will help develop and produce a Membership Development program, and other innovative programming, in 2026.

Qualifications

  • Program management, and leadership skills
  • Budgeting, organizational planning, and stakeholder relationship management
  • Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with non-profit operations and community engagement strategies
  • Experience in working with diverse cross-cultural communities, particularly involving and bridging API populations, is a plus
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Affairs, Non-Profit Management, or a related field
  • Ability to work on-site in Sacramento, CA
