SPEECH THERAPIST/SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (ST PRN) PER DIEM

This position does not have to go to the office, but will require a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a reliable personal automobile for local travel to provide care to clients in the Denton, Texas area.

Job Summary:

Qualicare is looking for a highly skilled and compassionate Speech Therapist to join our team As a Speech Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care, promoting physical function, and enhancing overall health and well-being. We offer not only geriatric care, but we also offer Hospice, Palliative, discharge to home, Alzheimer's and Dementia care, and concierge medical care.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty
  • Identifying treatment options
  • Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs
  • Teaching patients how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency
  • Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language
  • Working with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities to identify areas of strength and weakness.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate speech therapy, physical therapy, and other modalities to improve patients' functional abilities and independence.
  • Utilize medical terminology to accurately document patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans that address patients' unique needs and goals.
  • Provide patient education and support to help patients and families navigate the healthcare system and manage their condition.
  • Assist with case management by communicating with healthcare providers, social workers, and other stakeholders to ensure patients receive comprehensive care.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to critical care and patient safety by adhering to hospital or clinic protocols and standards.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and contribute to a positive work environment by being respectful, empathetic, and supportive of colleagues and patients.
  • Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders
  • Provide direct patient care to a diverse range of patients
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients to identify physical impairments and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Implement and monitor patient treatment plans, adjusting as necessary.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in speech therapy.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate medical records
  • Educate patients on proper exercise techniques and provide guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Provide emotional support and educate patients and their families on disease processes and treatment options
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to patient care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of patient care

Skills:

  • Experience caring for seniors
  • Knowledge of geriatric and neonatal care
  • Familiarity with medical records and vital signs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of the organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum one year experience in a home healthcare setting
  • One-year experience in geriatric care, preferred
  • Experience working in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Ability to provide patient care in a variety of settings, including home community care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for delivering high-quality patient care and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Experience with case management and patient service.
  • Experience working with patients with a range of diagnoses, including those requiring critical care.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to stay current with best practices in occupational therapy.
