The Organization
SSG-Project 180 turns lives around through innovative, wraparound services that keep people out of institutions and in their communities. Project 180 is a leader in the forensic treatment space, offering high-quality, specialized treatment programs that serve thousands of justice-involved individuals. Our programs span criminal justice intercepts and include pre-arrest interventions, court-based diversions, jail in-reach, and intensive post-release services. Project 180 operates in partnership with County agencies including the Department of Mental Health (DMH), the Department of Health Services (DHS), and the Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD).

The Position
The Clinical Supervisor oversees clinical service delivery across Project 180 programs. Services are delivered at clinics in Downtown Los Angeles and Palmdale, as well as at Project Based and Interim Housing sites within Los Angeles County. The supervisor will provide clinical supervision to program therapists as well as ongoing clinical consultation with program teams. This position reports to the

Clinical Director and is responsible for leading therapists to deliver high-quality service and program outcomes.

Essential Functions:
Provide direct clinical supervision to ensure high-quality service delivery and outcomes

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding and training clinical staff, with support from the administrative managers as appropriate
  • Supervise staff to meet performance expectations. Provide regular coaching and feedback. Participate in annual performance reviews.
  • Ensure clinical service delivery is consistent with legal and ethical standards.
  • Help staff troubleshoot challenging client-service situations through weekly clinical individual and group supervision, case management group supervision, daily staffings, ad-hoc coaching, and direct intervention as needed
  • Cultivate strong team culture and staff retention
  • Apply racial equity lens to all elements of clinical supervision.

Provide clinical risk assessment and crisis intervention:

  • Maintain LA County LPS designation.
  • Complete and/or guide clinical staff through clinical risk assessment and facilitate psychiatric hospitalization and/or safety planning, as appropriate.
  • Participate in division 24 hour crisis line rotation.
  • Provide ongoing clinical consultation and clinical oversight of high risk cases.

Integrate clinical team operations with program policies and expectations:

  • Collaborate regularly with the Senior Leadership of programs to report progress, escalate issues or concerns, and provide input into program policy decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with external clinical leadership as needed
  • Facilitate effective collaboration and with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Develop and implement ongoing clinical training for program staff in areas of focus (ie. mental health and substance recovery, harm reduction, trauma informed care)
  • Oversee team clinical documentation and ensure staff compliance with documentation expectations
  • Understand and ensure faithful implementation of all program policies, norms, and requirements

Fulfill baseline Project 180 staff expectations

  • Regular attendance required. Overtime, holiday or weekend work may be required.
  • Maintain and uphold Agency mission statement, values, policies, procedures, and principles
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • Maintain active license and/or registrations as applicable (ie BBS, CCAPP)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required: LCSW/LMFT/LPCC with 2+ years of post-licensure experience
  • Preferred:

  • Previous experience supervising mental health or case management programs in a relevant context (forensic/court-based, county-operated mental health, or similar program).

  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.

  • Valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance and own vehicle required.
  • Verification of Employment Eligibility and Background Check

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervisor will provide clinical supervision to a team of approximately 10-12 therapists.

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)
Supervisor will be across Project 180 program sites which includes in-person collaboration at the agency clinics, as well as Project Based and Interim Housing sites within Los Angeles County.

Physical Requirements
The employee is expected to move about the project based housing site throughout the day, which may involve walking, standing, and climbing stairs, or using a mobility device, or similar. The employee is expected to drive, carry a maximum of 20 lbs, listen, and speak in order to complete job requirements.

Mental Requirements
The employee must be able to do any/all of the following: perform complex and varied tasks such as synthesizing information and making decisions without immediate supervision; handle routine distractions, interruptions, noise, and uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules; interact professionally and diplomatically in high-stress situations; create and follow plans; meet deadlines.
