We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. Duties

  • Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision, artistry, and attention to detail, ensuring consistency in flavor and presentation
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work station in compliance with food safety regulations
  • Select fresh ingredients and handle raw fish and seafood with proper food handling techniques to ensure safety and quality
  • Develop and execute menu items that reflect authentic Japanese flavors while incorporating creative twists when appropriate
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation, ensuring timely delivery during busy service hours
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients, order supplies as needed, and manage storage to minimize waste
  • Uphold all food safety standards, including proper knife skills, sanitation practices, and temperature controls
  • Assist in training new team members on sushi preparation techniques and safety protocols
  • Contribute to the overall dining experience by maintaining high standards of food presentation and customer service during catering or special events

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within fine dining or Japanese cuisine establishments
  • Strong knife skills with the ability to handle seafood safely and efficiently
  • Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation methods, including rolling, slicing, and plating techniques
  • Experience in menu planning and creating innovative sushi offerings
  • Background in food handling, safety procedures, and sanitation standards within the food industry
  • Previous restaurant or kitchen experience demonstrating excellent food preparation skills
  • Familiarity with dietary department guidelines and dietary aide practices is a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation to collaborate effectively with colleagues
