Position Overview

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Refrigeration Equipment Installer to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, piping, wiring, and commissioning commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. The position requires technical competence in mechanical assembly, piping, and controls, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills.

Pay Range

$30–$50 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated skill level.

This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and New Jersey labor laws, and is therefore eligible for overtime pay at 1.5× the regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, pipe, and commission refrigeration equipment, including hanging, setting, and craning units
• Replace components such as compressors, motors, evaporators, and valves
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and manufacturer documentation
• Wire controls, program settings, and perform start-up and troubleshooting
• Flexibility to assist the service team with repairs, maintenance, and preventative care and assist on all sides of install - IPM and refrigeration installs
• Prepare job materials, order parts, and maintain organized truck stock
• Operate forklifts, lifts, and scissor lifts (certifications provided if needed)
• Complete required documentation and maintain compliance with company and safety protocols
• Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
• Attend company-provided technical training and development sessions

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial/industrial refrigeration installation experience (required)
• Demonstrated proficiency in pipefitting, mechanical assembly, and commissioning
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration and mechanical issues
• Strong understanding of control systems and electrical wiring
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
• OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain—company-paid)
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties associated with installation work (reasonable accommodations will be provided as required by law)
• Ability to work indoors/outdoors, at heights, and in varying weather conditions
