Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and proficiency with dental software systems. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional dental services, including pediatric and general dentistry. The Dental Hygienist will be responsible for providing preventive oral health services, patient education, and assisting the dental team in maintaining high standards of infection control and patient safety. Candidates should be familiar with HIPAA regulations, medical and dental terminology, and have experience with EMR systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and polishing to promote oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring proper infection control protocols.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and treatment plans.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Document treatment procedures accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Maintain a sterile environment through aseptic techniques and infection control procedures.
- Monitor patient comfort and address any concerns during appointments.
- Support pediatric dentistry services by providing specialized care tailored to children's needs.
- Keep up-to-date with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and current best practices in dental hygiene.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a dental clinic or dental office setting is required.
- Familiarity with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Experience working with EMR systems and medical coding is advantageous.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry, general dentistry procedures, and infection control protocols is essential.
- Prior experience with chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and documentation review is desirable.
- A valid state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist is required along with current CPR certification.
