Wants/must-haves: Examples

  • CPA Certification – Active CPA license required.
  • Public Accounting Experience – Minimum of 6 years in public accounting.
  • GAAP Expertise – Strong knowledge of GAAP financial statements, including bank reconciliations, accruals, revenue recognition, and financial statement analysis.
  • Financial Reporting & KPI Analysis – Experience in financial statement analysis, management reports, and KPI development.
  • Internal Controls & Process Improvement – Ability to evaluate, recommend, and implement internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Accounting System Proficiency – Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, with familiarity in QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or other ERP systems.
  • Advanced Excel Skills – Ability to analyze financial data, create financial models, and generate reports using Excel.
  • Project & Team Management – Ability to manage multiple clients, train staff, and oversee accounting personnel.
  • Excellent Communication Skills – Strong verbal and written communication to interact with clients and internal teams effectively.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience in Business Advisory Services – Previous exposure to advising clients on financial strategy, operational efficiency, and risk management.
  • Experience with Budgeting & Forecasting – Familiarity with financial projections, budget variance analysis, and forecasting models.
  • M&A Integration & Due Diligence – Hands-on experience in post-acquisition integration, buy-side, and sell-side financial due diligence.
  • Data Analytics & BI Tools – Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools to generate insights from financial data.
  • Experience Leading System Implementations – Worked on implementing or migrating ERP systems or accounting software for clients.
