Job Summary

The Activities Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational programs for a Day Program.This role requires a compassionate individual who can create a supportive and stimulating environment for adults with ages ranging from 21 to 90+. Some clients may have limited mental capibilities such as dementia, and other memory care needs. Most clients will be fully funtional and able to participate.The Activities Director will work closely with clients their families, and staff to enhance the quality of life through meaningful activities that promote social interaction, cognitive engagement, and physical well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of clients.
  • Coordinate event planning for special occasions, holidays, and community outings.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and health needs.
  • Facilitate group activities that encourage socialization among clients while fostering a sense of community.
  • Provide support for clients with disabilities and those requiring assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Maintain schedule management to ensure all activities are well-organized and adequately staffed.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate the interests and needs of clients in relation to recreational therapy.
  • Communicate effectively with clients families, and staff regarding upcoming events and individual participation.
  • Stay informed about community events of interest

Qualifications

  • Experience in crafting, planning and organizing activities is preferred.
  • Previous experience in senior care or long-term care settings is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of recreational therapy practices and working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to interact positively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Ability to manage schedules effectively while being adaptable to changing needs within the program

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
