Overview

The Child Development Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation of the Child Development Center (CDC) for onsite pre-school and education services, assuring compliance with licensing and accreditation standards, and contractual agreements. Works closely with other program Leadership to ensure collaboration between programs and consideration of family dynamics and educational services provided to participant families.

Responsibilities

1. Recognizes and effectively responds to impacts of domestic violence and trauma; additionally provides training for staff regarding recognition of and supportive intervention with domestic violence impacts.2. Completes reports, monitors progress of relevant contracts such as DES, VOCA, Quality First and programmatic social and educational goals, and is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of ADHS Licensing regulations, accreditation standards, and other quality improvement plans.3. Discerns and prioritizes needs of program participants, staff, and the agency and takes appropriate action to effectively meet the needs utilizing critical thinking, team problem solving, and involvement of higher-level administrators when appropriate.4. Practices asset stewardship by ensuring the facility, equipment, and supplies are maintained in good repair, the program is within budget requirements, and staff resources are being maximized.5. Ensures alignment of teaching procedures and educational materials to meet educational goals.6. Fills in for Teachers, if needed, for absences, vacation, meal breaks, etc.7. Maintains open lines of communication with other departments concerning program changes, information updates, and opportunities for collaboration.8. Coordinates and promotes training and educational programming for all children, youth and their families at Sojourner Center.9. Provides support, ongoing training and resources for residential staff through monthly programmatic staff meetings and campus milieu observations and feedback. 10. Oversees children and youth classes offered on-site, in addition to classes related to parenting, and dynamics of DV as related to these topics; researches, chooses and/or designs, and implements curricula in support of the strategic plan.11. Participates in collaborative efforts with community partners when beneficial to the program by improving quality, enhancing the facility, providing supplemental training, or adding community resources.12. Holds on-call responsibilities for CSC and supports with holding on-call responsibilities for all programs when assigned through rotation.

Qualifications


• At least 21 years of age; ability to obtain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Master's degree in Education, Social Work or related field-preferred. Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work or related field.
• Five years relevant experience; at least two years' supervisory experience.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
• Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to Sojourner Center's insurance company.
• Bi-lingual Spanish-English preferred.

Physical Factors/Working Conditions
• Utilizes computer and standard office equipment.
• Has the potential to be exposed to infectious diseases and must use Universal Precautions.
• Has a risk of physical danger due to the nature of the population served.
• Holds on-call responsibility for residential programs and child development center.
• Some travel between work locations may be required.
